This subtly earthy botanical bitters shimmers with notes of pink peppercorn, blackberry, dried gooseberry, and hyssop underlying the not-too-overpowering lavender signature. A flowering plant of the mint family originating in lands Mediterranean-adjacent, lavender has long been prized for its botanical benefits, soothing properties, and lingering fragrance, and is now cultivated in abundance throughout the arid Mountain West. An enlivening addition to no-nonsense summer elixirs like vodka-sodas, Honest John Lavender Bitters elevate concoctions of cookery or cocktails in modern recipes or historic cocktail resurrections such as a Bees Knees, Lavender Bramble, or Gin Fizz.
Made With Organic Herbs & Spices Sourced From Our Home—The Mountain West
Suggested Cocktail
“The bee’s knees” was 1920s slang for “the best of the best,” and it’s an aptly marvelous moniker for this delightful dram.
Bee’s Knees
2 oz. London Dry Gin
0.75 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
0.5 oz. Honey
3 dashes Honest John Lavender Bitters
Garnish Luxardo Cherry
Add all ingredients to a shaker and stir gently with a barspoon to break up the honey. Add ice and shake until the tin is frosty. Strain into a vintage champagne coup or Nick & Nora glass. Drop in a Luxardo Cherry to settle to the bottom of the glass.
