Jungle Bird Cocktail || a classic rum cocktail with Lemongrass-Cardamom Bitters
For this exciting collaboration with Utah-owned and operated Waterpoocket Distillery we’ll be exploring a modern cocktail variation using traditional bartenders’ ingredient staples: rum and bitters. Taught by professional barman and {the rest} bar manager Ryan Santos with Waterpocket lead distiller and ancient spirits resurrectionist Alan Scott, this class will cover the fascinating backstory behind the Jungle Bird, a decidedly glamorous tiki drink with roots dating back to the 70s. Class instruction includes how to use and evaluate bitters, and examples for including Lemongrass-Cardamom bitters in baking, cocktails and more. Using Waterpocket Distillery’s Añejo Rum, participants will mix up their own Jungle Bird cocktails, and experience why truly classic cocktail variations have made such a prominent return in the past decade.
The class covers the ingredients and techniques needed to make a perfect Jungle Bird cocktail along with a 1oz bottle of bitters to take home. Light fare will be served. $65/person
Attendees must be 21+ and provide identification at the beginning of class
